The glorious globular cluster 47 Tucanae lying in the Smaller Magellanic Cloud. This is second only to Omega Centauri in terms of magnificence. This photograph was taken with the 74 inch telescope, originally at the Radcliffe Observatory, near Pretoria and now located at the Sutherland station of the South African Astronomical Observatory. Scanned from a monochrome print using a black and white scanner and artificially colored by GR.
